Module Two | Reinforcement and Total Classroom Management Strategies

This module is designed to assist teachers, administrators, and other educators in learning how to prevent and reduce common classroom and schoolwide infractions without using punitive consequences.  The emphasis is on using modeling and various reinforcement strategies to teach how to behave while preventing and reducing common infractions.

The focus of this module is reinforcement. After completing this module, you should be able to:

Define, recognize, and give original examples of the following terms:

Describe and illustrate three objective means, based on observation, of identifying reinforcers.

Provide a discussion that can resolve each of the following concerns:

1.Isn’t it unfair to treat students differently?

2.When and why use contrived reinforcers?

3.Isn’t this a form of bribery?

Design a reinforcement program for a student that includes the guidelines for using reinforcement effectively.

Design a reinforcement program for a classroom that includes the guidelines for using reinforcement effectively.
