Publications, Podcasts & the RiSE Library
The California Department of Education, Special Education Division contracts with CalSTAT to produce written, recorded, and printed materials for large scale dissemination across the state. To date, CalSTAT has created and given away nearly 1 million printed education related Special EDge newsletters, topic driven documents, videos, and compact discs.
CalSTAT makes available online several of its current publications such as the latest issue of The Special EDge and two supplemental resources. In addition you will find a guide on Transition to Adult Living and another on Procedural Safeguards for parents. CalSTAT also produces a number of materials for the TEACH California Web site that can be accessed from the web site.
Podcasts
Podcasts are the newest addition to the CalSTAT Web site. Users can hear recorded conversations with experts from the field on a variety of topics featured in The Special EDge and keynote speakers from CalSTAT related training activities. RiSE Library
CalSTAT manages the RiSE (Resources in Special Education) Library, which makes available documents that offer research-proven strategies and information recommended by educational stakeholders. Residents of California can check out these resources free of charge by ordering through phone, e-mail, U.S. mail, and fax, or by visiting the library in person. Access the library online.
The RiSE Library is located at Parents Helping Parents of Santa Clara, a parent training and information center.
