Data: Iron Horse Middle School
Students are routinely assessed, both formally and informally, to evaluate their progress and make decisions regarding any necessary changes in their educational program. Frequent assessments can involve quizzes, writing assignments, daily/weekly behavior and/or academic reports, quarterly reports on goals and objectives, and progress grade reports. This data is reviewed, evaluated, and shared with parents and colleagues to ensure any issues or concerns are identified and addressed.
In addition, data collected from state standardized tests, Fall/Spring Writes, and IEP triennial assessments are reported to parents and, in conjunction with school personnel, are used to make decisions about instruction, interventions, and program changes specific to the individual needs of students.
There are three stages of assessments:
- Placement, which consists of encoding, decoding, and grammar
- Formulative, which is ongoing and administered after each lesson taught
- Summative, which are standardized norm referenced tests
Records are kept on the students’ achievements and are put in their file as a record of their growth.
