Each team member is responsible for assisting administrators with placement of students in classes. All team members participate in bi–monthly Student Study Team meetings, Roundtable meetings, and individual content area planning.   Monica Mendoza takes leadership in modeling for staff active participation practices and classroom management. Temple Salas-Yoshii takes leadership in modeling for other district EL teachers appropriate practices and implementation of High Point including integration of the SmartBoard as a tool of instruction. The team is responsible for assessment and placement of all students needing intervention placement, including special education and general education students.

Principal Carol Parish, one general education teacher and one special education teacher initiated Literacy at Marine View eight years ago.   Literacy expanded to include teachers from other middle schools in the district. The Marine View team continues to set the standard for use of research-proven instructional practices and implementation of effective programs for accelerated learning.
