The Mesa View CalSTAT team involves key persons that assist in the well-received literacy intervention program by the total staff. Four years ago, Mesa View focused on the implementation of its intensive intervention programs. Joy Hogate is the lead teacher of the implementation of the High Point intensive intervention program for English learners. She experiences multiple level classes through the implementation of supplementing the program with fluency readings and Step Up to Writing strategy. Ms. Hogate is the site lead on placement of our English learner students, in addition to leading the district-wide pacing guide.

Jessica Camarena, a resource teacher, has participated in the evolution of our implementation of the Language! program to its current state of our ''3 plus 1'' model. She is currently teaching the Literacy Clinic class for students moving from an intensive program to grade level, incorporating REWARDS, REWARDS Plus, and Step Up to Writing support.

Three years ago a team of teachers attended an ERIA conference. From that conference, the Mesa View staff embraced programs and instructional strategies presented by Kevin Feldman. Rachel Regus became our site ERIA coordinator. Not only does she monitor literacy data of the school, she has coordinated along with Joy Hogate, the implementation of Six Minute Solution schoolwide. Mrs. Regus has also been called upon within the district to train other middle school teachers on the mechanics and implementation of the program. Active participation, a critical part of the Mesa View literacy program, is modeled well by all members of the team. Our parent member Michele Hunt is an active parent of two students at Mesa View. She is eager and willing to share and learn more about promoting literacy as a parent.
