Data: Sequoia Middle School
Student progress is continually monitored and assessed through diagnostic and pre- and post-tests in their academic classes. In addition to quarterly Progress Reports, teachers generate individualized progress reports tow to three times a quarter. Teachers use Edusoft to align content and accountability measures, providing immediate remediation if needed. Students are moved into and out of intervention classes and levels based on skills as needed throughout the school year.
Since we began the collaborative model at our school we have seen both our Special Ed and Regular Ed students CST scores increase in both Math and Language Arts. Teacher observations and class assessments indicate Special Ed students achieving with individualized accommodations. We have seen a decrease in the number of Special Ed students falling in the At Risk of Retention category and an increase in parent involvement in developing and implementing strategies to support student success.
