Strategies: Spring View Middle School
The California content standards and the district core curriculum comprise all instruction for all students at Spring View Middle School. The curriculum is modified according to individual student need regardless of whether that curriculum is delivered in the general education classroom or in the special education classroom. All students enroll in elective courses and are provided modifications and accommodations as needed.
Curricular needs are met through extensive planning and collaboration as an academy at Spring View Middle School. Teacher schedules provide a daily common preparation period used for articulation about curriculum, assessments, and interventions and to celebrate accomplishments. Additionally, twelve early release days for students enable teacher collaboration and staff development time. Through extensive planning and collaboration as a school and academy, Titan Academy teachers developed a new Reading and Mathematics Enrichment Program to support all academy students for the academic school year.
Each Monday, the Academy teams collaborate during their common preparation period with the Resource teacher and the Title I teacher. The meeting agendas focus on curriculum and student needs. The general education teachers share information on the weekly classroom assignments and homework. The ILS/RSP/SDC special education teachers suggest lesson modifications and student product expectations based on individual IEPs. Technology plays a critical role in the delivery and communication of curricula and school events to students and to parents. Each teacher's link on Spring View Middle School's website provides access to the weekly/monthly calendar, contact information, and student grades.
