Partners: Vista Verde School

In addition to building a positive school culture, Vista Verde encourages teaching STAR behaviors throughout the learning community. Communication to all stakeholders is provided through behavior team meetings, staff meetings, and parent newsletters. The PTA has developed a teaching matrix for parents which communicate parent STAR behaviors. The principal communicates with parents via the monthly principal’s newsletter by reviewing the STAR process, outcome data, and inviting parental involvement. PTA newsletter and Parent Night include review and implementation of the STAR system on the playground, in the classroom and non–classroom settings.

The Project Success counselor, campus supervisor and playground instructional assistants are included in data collection, teaching, modeling and reinforcing of school–wide expected behaviors. The playground instructional assistants have been trained in "Active Supervision." All staff uses the STAR common language across settings and curriculum.
