Honored three times as a California Distinguished School in 1996, 2001, and 2005, Vista View Middle School is a Title I–funded suburban school with typical urban school characteristics. Our school serves students in the communities of Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Westminster, and Midway City, and our student population reflects the cultural diversity of our local community (38 percent Hispanic/Latino, 34 percent White, and 26 percent Asian).
Our long tradition of excellence is evidenced by the balanced, comprehensive educational program that is provided to meet the diverse needs of our 820 enrolled students, of whom 31 percent are English learners, 11 percent are identified as special education, and approximately 50 percent qualify for the National School Lunch Program.
One merely needs to spend a few minutes on campus to feel the pride and catch the spirit that is Vista View. The school climate buzzes with the energy of a committed and dedicated teaching staff, focused students, and a tireless administrative team. Parents and community members contribute to the synergy through volunteerism and their on-going support of our school programs. In collaboration with all school stakeholders, our school program is carefully monitored to ensure that all our students realize their greatest potential.
