Partners: Transition to Adult Living (Washington USD)

A partnership with PRIDE Industries provides students employment skills training and, some students have work experiences in local business, which lead to permanent employment. The program has a strong partnership with Alta Regional Center and the Transition coordinators from Alta attend IEP planning meetings and participate in many of the program's activities. A partnership with the City Parks and Recreation Department provides recreational activities in the community. First Northern Bank, Regional Transit and Yolobus are all integral partnerships with T.A.L.

Families are an integral part of all aspects of the program from the program's development to ongoing implementation and refinement. The culture of the program is that of an extended family where all participants, their families and adult service providers collaborate to plan, implement and celebrate the program and individual student's development. The program produces a quarterly newsletter informing families and the community at large of its activities and accomplishments. The staff works closely with families helping with issues such as: Coordinating with Alta Regional, Making doctor and dental appointments and temporary crises that arise. We also jave amitated a partnership with the Independent Living Skills Program at Natomas Unified School Districts High School. We are sister classes in our gepgraphic area.
