Goals and Outcomes

  1. Create/nurture connections developed at the institute to establish a network of participants who share the common goals of creating positive school environments that support positive behaviors in the classroom and school.
  2. Close the achievement gap by providing positive behavior supports within the classroom that ensure students are engaged in learning and lower the dropout rate through developing stronger staff-student connections.
  3. Highlight components of exemplary programs within the Southern California area, creating opportunities to expand learning and build leadership capacity within participants.
  4. Support efforts toward system change around the philosophy of creating positive learning environments utilizing a team approach, including families, for proactive planning and writing behavior support plans in a ‘response to intervention’ model.
  5. Implementing successful evidence based practices to create positive changes in student behavior and develop behavior support plans with accountability fidelity.
  6. Build communities of learners within districts and between districts and agencies to sustain ongoing learning and support beyond this Institute.
