Training
The CalSTAT project subcontracts with approximately 40 educational agencies such as county offices of education, special education local plan areas, regional coordinating councils, school districts, and school sites to deliver professional development training. Subcontractors receive a procedural handbook that gives administrative instructions in addition to coaching and technical assistance from CalSTAT to support training design and delivery.
Using the federally funded State Improvement Grant funds, CalSTAT supports trainings that reflect any or all of the seven core message areas. These core, or common, messages, articulate critical research findings and essential components of effective application.
CalSTAT supports several types of training targeted for specific audiences:
- State Leadership Institute
- Regional Institutes
- Online Conferencing
- California Cadre of Building Effective Schools Together (BEST) Trainers
- Effective Reading Intervention Academy (ERIA)
